Artist Statement

Pritam Chivate draws from the visual language of Indian mythology, reinterpreting stories from the Mahabharata, Ramayana and Buddhist traditions through a contemporary lens. Human anatomy sits at the heart of his practice, becoming a means to explore emotion, spirituality and what he describes as the “space soul.”

His compositions move between the physical and the metaphysical, using familiar figures to tell less familiar stories. Often working with a darker palette, Chivate creates work that feels rooted in tradition without being bound by it exploring the space where ancient narratives, human emotion and contemporary expression meet.
