Artist Statement

Yayati Godbole, an artist and mixologist believes in the concept of less is more.

When viewing his works, one can see the simplicity of his style in the manner of fables borrowed from heritage times as his muse.

He passionately believes in hand-drawing and painting on various materials unlike the cliché canvas.

Fabric, Glass, Acrylic sheet and Marble are some of the surfaces he has worked with.

Godbole uses the colour black for the reason that it was the first colour to be used by prehistoric artists to illustrate their ideologies on walls of caves et al.

He manipulates the colour on the surface depicting intricate drawings with varied densities. The artist believes in the indomitable human spirit and celebrated, its triumph.

His process comes across as meditative and meticulous of symbolic leitmotifs with visible strokes of consciousness-expanding hues accompanied by a facial structure with vacant eyes, lines entering from multiple directions, and undivided sections of leaves.

The artist lives and works in Mysore, Karnataka.
